The story behind the Breitling Navitimer
Launched in 1952, the Breitling Navitimer is the favourite watch of pilot’s and aviation fans alike. A genuine wrist instrument, the Navitimer was originally an essential tool for pilots in measuring flight times and fuel requirements using its patented slide rule bezel. Thus the Navitimer became the official watch of the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association). To this day the Navitimer series retains a cult following and since 1952 it has been continually produced in the same form and spirit. The only change came recently, when Breitling’s first in-house movement was included in the creation of the Navitimer 01. This new engine has ensured that the world’s oldest and most popular chronograph is also one of the most accurate.
