The Watch Gallery has partnered with Zenith on an exclusive El Primero Chronomaster watch. With only 10 watches available in the world, it features our exclusive blue brand pantone on the dial and blue stitching on the strap. Each model also has the number 1-10 engraved on the caseback, it is truly a one-off collectors piece.
We asked The Watch Gallery's Assistant Manager at Selfridges Christine Borg-Mirza to review this exciting new model...
It is always an honour for a high-end watch manufacture to want to produce a limited edition watch for The Watch Gallery (our last was an exclusive collaboration with British watch brand Bremont). It is a real testament in the industry that we are valued as a retailer and it is also a great way for brands to show us their appreciation. Zenith, having one of the most respected Swiss in-house watch manufactures, has done just that with this exclusive Chronomaster Open El-Primero, limited to only ten pieces.
The renowned El-Primero movement is made completely in-house, but in The Watch Gallery version, parts of the movement are designed with silicone, which are the purply/blueish escape wheel and anchor that is visible when viewing through the open window on the front of the dial.
This new technology is being used more often in various high-end watches because it is perfectly smooth and when it interacts with other components it produces less friction which prolongs the service interval, reliability and precision - it also adds an interesting contrast against the other metal in the movement.
It is great to see on this 42mm unique steel timepiece, that it has the 50 hour power reserve indicator by 6 o'clock, along with the chronograph 30 minutes sub dial by 3 o'clock. Even though the dial is packed with interesting complications it does not feel busy, as the black dial combined with The Watch Gallery pantone blue are a subtle combination that has an understated effect which gives a timeless appeal.
The blue stitching on this exceptional timepiece gives a sporty characteristic to the design of the alligator strap. It is possible to swim with this watch as it is 100m water resistant, however it is not advisable, even though on the underside it has a sweat proof coating to assist in prolonging its life span.
The Zenith El Primero Chronomaster Exclusive is an ideal everyday watch for a gentleman who wants a classic, timeless, and rare timepiece that would slot in perfectly to any watch collection, it is the kind that you would very happily pass down to your family members in generations to come.
